"How can we enhance the urban mail retrieval experience?"
USER INSIGHTS

According to our participant's input, we were able to calculate and tally some of the major cause of user frustration during the entire experience of product delivery and pick up process.
USER JOURNEY MAP

A user journey map, synthesized from interview data, highlights common pain points reported by participants. Notably, recurring issues were observed in the latter stages of the pickup process, likely due to complications in package retrieval scenarios.
FIELD RESEARCH
To better understand the landscape of existing products, field observations were conducted to identify the root causes of user frustration. These insights helped inform design directions aimed at enhancing efficiency, clarity, and overall user experience.
PRODUCT DEFINITION & SOLUTIONS
Building on refined outcomes, a comprehensive framework of user needs and design considerations was established. Due to the multifaceted nature of user dissatisfaction, a systematic design approach was deemed most effective.
The resulting solution consists of a three-part system: a standardized locker unit serving as the core infrastructure, a delivery drone to assist with final-mile delivery, and an interactive app/kiosk designed to reduce user uncertainty and improve transparency in package tracking and pickup.
IDEATION
Ideation sketches were created to explore potential solutions, with significant focus placed on the styling and functionality of the drone—particularly how it would interact between locker units and users.
User centric interactions were also advanced to ensure a cohesive and streamlined experience with the physical kiosk and app interface.

[Different kiosk interaction layouts were tested before finalizing]
REFINEMENT
Iterations of ID refinement were made to optimize the solutions closer with the initial design goals, focused areas included drone variations and kiosk layout explorations.
So many options to choose from!

FINALIZATION
Ideation sketches were created to explore potential solutions, with significant focus placed on the styling and functionality of the drone—particularly how it would interact between locker units and users. Secondary attention was given to user interaction with the physical kiosk and app interface to ensure a cohesive and streamlined experience throughout the system.
CONCEPT VALIDATION: IMPROVED JOURNEY MAP
The improved journey map demonstrates how the new proposed system comes into play with solving the identified problems.
